Faith leaders call for action to reduce poverty, end homelessness

A growing number of faith leaders are joining the call for practical and effective solutions to reduce poverty and end homelessness. In February, national leaders of the Anglican and Lutheran faiths issued a call to action. In March, nineteen synagogues from four Jewish denominations added their voices. The Wellesley Institute is partnered with Toronto's Multi-Faith Alliance to End Homelessness to engage faith communities in practical and effective solutions. The Multi-Faith Alliance has issued a declaration and call to action to end homelessness. In the words of Congregation Darchei Noam: "Time is of the essence. Today, Ontario has the highest rate of child poverty in Canada: this, in a province that is still one of the richest in the land. We can afford to do better, and do it quickly..."
